I'm Here In Las Vegas, Nevada
Posted: Sunday 2 November 2008 20:41
I got a late start. I didn't leave until noon and I still got here by 2:00. I am all settled in at the Arizona Charlies RV Resort. I plan to stay one month before heading South to Quartzite, Arizona.
After I got the rig setup I walked over to the Arizona Charlies Casino and had an early dinner at their Wild West Buffet.
I bet you can't guess what I forgot today. If you said to put my clock back one hour for going off daylight savings time, you would be wrong. I forgot that Nevada is PST. So when I finished dinner I stopped by the lounge and had an after dinner Single Malt Scotch (Glen Levet). Then I realized it was only 4:30 PM and dark outside.
I'm back at the rig now watching CSI and enjoying a stogie. I feel a little tired so I am going to go to bed early. In the morning I'm going to checkout Arizona Charlies breakfast bar. Then back to the rig to get some work done. I haven't done much the last week or so which means I have some catch up to do.
Later.
Underway! Shift Colors, Departing For Las Vegas, Nevada
Posted: Sunday 2 November 2008 9:41
Yup! Underway again or will be very shortly after breakfast and I finish getting the rig ready for the road.
I'm in no hurry because it is only about two hours to Las Vegas. My only concern is that they were not doing road work yesterday and will be today. That probably is remote but it sure could ruin my transit.
See ya in Las Vegas!
Are You Ready For Another Change In Plans?
Posted: Saturday 1 November 2008 18:38
I went into Las Vegas today to checkout the RV Parks and the traffic. I am darn glad I did. For a starter most of the way into Las Vegas going South on I15 is under construction. Fortunately they were not actually working today. Also the RV Park I was thinking about staying in was no longer there. This is the second time this is happened to me in Las Vegas.
Well, now to the schedule change. I decided to travel on Sunday instead of waiting for Monday. I don't even want to fight all the traffic that the construction will cause on Monday. I found a couple of RV Parks that will be available tomorrow (they don't take reservations).
More tomorrow.
Update: Driving Into Las Vegas Saturday, Not Today
Posted: Friday 31 October 2008 12:58
Slight change. I was planning to go down to Las Vegas today to scout for an RV Park.
Last night I realized my Verizon cell phone was not working here in Leeds, Utah. After spending an hour on the phone with Verizon support they had to manually program my phone to work here in a "roaming" area. This just increases the importance of me moving on.
But, this morning I rolled back over and slept in after deciding to wait until Saturday to go into Las Vegas. I still plan to leave either Monday or Tuesday which would be a week earlier than I planned.
I am also planning to go to Zion National Park Sunday so that my short stay here is not a waste of effort and planning.
Heads Up! I'm Considering Making A Change In My Travel Plans
Posted: Thursday 30 October 2008 19:59
The Zion West RV Park in Leeds, Utah is not going to work out for me. There is nothing wrong with the park itself except for internet access. My Verizon Internet access is on the fringe here and I can barely stay connected. Additionally, the Wifi provided by the RV Park is a standard home Wifi and the signal strength is also low and drops in and out.
I am now planning to drive down to Las Vegas tomorrow and reserve me a space in an RV Park. This is not the way I normally do it but the last two times I stayed in Las Vegas I had a heck of a time finding a space. Since my travel schedule is so fluid I tend not to make reservations in advance. So I want to be sure I have a place to stay before I drive through the mess that Las Vegas traffic traffic has become.
Arrived In Leeds, Utah And Initial Stay Plans
Posted: Wednesday 29 October 2008 17:25
I'm here. Everything went well. I was on the road for about 2 hours. I am staying at the Zion West RV Park in Leeds, Utah. The park is laid out for pull through rigs which is the way I like it because I travel alone and it is a bit more difficult to back in to a lot by myself.
The biggest problem I am having settling in is with my internet. I am on the fringe of the Verizon network and the signal is real weak. It drops on and off. Fortunately the RV Park has Wifi so I am all set. I will discuss this problem in more detail in a full blog.
Tomorrow, I plan to go into St. George and look around. On Saturday I am planning to visit the Zion National Park.
As for the rest of the day I am going to relax and get some online business work done.
I Authorized Myself Late Sleepers Today. Only 140 Miles To Travel Today
Posted: Wednesday 29 October 2008 9:25
Last night I got serious about researching an RV Park to stay at in St. George and did not have much luck. I found two of them had been sold even though they were still showing up as an RV Park on Google.
But all is not lost. I found two RV Parks in Leeds, Utah which is just 15 miles North of St. George. So I made a command decision to stay there. Leeds is only 30 miles from Zion National Park and it is only a short drive into St. George if I need something that Leeds doesn't have.
Anyway, since I slept in late knowing I had a short drive today I won't depart Fillmore until after 11:00.
Second Travel Day Completed. I Am Now In Fillmore, Utah
Posted: Tuesday 28 October 2008 17:40
Went a little further today than I planned. I went about 275 miles which is more than the 200 I was planning.
The good side for me is that tomorrow I will only have to go about 160 miles from Fillmore into St. George. I like that.
Stopped For The Night In Declo, Idaho
Posted: Monday 27 October 2008 19:55
I left Meridian/Boise Idaho this morning. As promised I drove a short distance today. Less than 200 miles.
I had a lot to do this morning to get ready to depart so I "Hit The Decks A Running" when I got up. Tomorrow I will sleep in a bit and and depart mid morning. I want to pass through Salt Lake City after lunch then start looking for an RV Park.
If anything interesting turns up I will add it here. Actually, I hope nothing "Exciting" happens.

Underway! Shift Colors, Heading South For The Winter
Posted: Monday 27 October 2008 9:10
Departing this morning and heading South. My general plan is to take a couple of leisure day stops along the way then stop for a week or two in St. George, Utah.
I am going to make this transit in a casual mode traveling only three or four hours a day. I want to arrive in St. George early in the day so I will have time to check out the few RV parks they have. When I try to drive a marathon and arrive late I find I am tired, and rushed and tend to take the first RV Park I come on. I'm going to avoid that mistake this time.
I will write more once I arrive at my first stop which will be most likely in South Idaho around Twin Falls.

Apologies, Again For The Delay In Getting My Next Blog Out
Posted: Thursday 18 September 2008 11:58
My latest blog entry is a bit later than I like for all my usual reasons such as being busy. But in this case I have been rethinking my travel schedule for next year.
I am debating whether to stay my usual 2 or 3 months in Arizona this winter or do some traveling over to Texas.
Once I have that sorted out I will update my travel schedule and explain in more detail what those changes are in my next blog.

Leaving La Grande, Oregon For Boise, Idaho Tomorrow
Posted: Tuesday 19 August 2008 17:19
Well, the end of a very pleasant 3 months has come to an end. I will be departing La Grande tomorrow morning.
My current plan is to stay about two months then head south for the winter. Ah! The Life of a digital nomad!
Wow! It's Hot!
Posted: Sunday 17 August 2008 20:18
The outside temperature is 102 degrees. Today is the first time it has been over a hundred this summer here in La Grande. In fact we have had only 7 or 8 days over 90 all summer.
I plan to leave La Grande, Oregon and move back to Boise, Idaho this coming Wednesday or Thursday. So I went to the Weather Channel web site and looked at the 10 day forecast for both La Grande and Boise and saw that this coming Wednesday and Thursday the temperature will be in the mid 80's which will make for a nice travel day.
Congratulations Michael Phelps

Go Michael!

Spending A Cool And Quiet Sunday Afternoon With My New Gadget Toy
Posted: Sunday 10 August 2008 19:22
A few days ago I got me a new gadget toy, an Amazon Kindle, and I am totally impressed?
For the last few years I have been listening to Audio Books for the enjoyment of books. My attention span has never been very long. I find it difficult to sit still and read a book. However, Audio Books have allowed me to listen to a book while doing something else. Be it working at my computer or setting outside my RV and enjoying the odd stogy and or cool brewski.
Since my Amazon Kindle arrived the other day I am finding myself spending a lot more time reading, really reading and not in the sense that listening to an Audio Book is also called reading.
I have found myself enjoying reading again and in new and different ways. I am in the process of reading 3 books at the same time, well not simultaneously. I am reading two books related to internet business and I am reading a for fun book titled "The Best Time Travel Stories of the 20th Century."
The size and ease of use has made it so convenient for me to just pick it up and read for 10 or 15 minutes then put it back down then again an hour later pick it up and start again right where I left off in any book. It is so handy that I will be able to add it to my Batman Utility Belt of digital gadgets. Where ever I am with time on my hands, even for only a few minutes, I will be able to read a few pages or even a chapter of a book. I learned a long time a go that you can complete any task if you take it in bite sized pieces.
I realize that I am under the influence of "New Toy" so I will write again about my Amazon Kindle sometime later after I have gotten used to having it and it is no longer new.
It Is Chilly This Morning. Now, I'm Not Complaing Just Amazed
Posted: Sunday 10 August 2008 13:27
Here it is the 10th of August and this morning I awoke early around 5:30 AM and had to turn on the electric blanket. It was down right chilly.
It is now about noon and the temperature outside is 66 degrees. I have my sweat pants on with a pair of socks to keep my piggies worm.
I, like most of you, have heard all the hype about this supposed global warming theory. Well my anecdotal view is it has to be a bunch of bunk. I also have read that the average temperature of the earth has actually dropped 1 degree over the last 10 years.
Remember, the actor, who is an environmental "expert," Ted Danson who claimed, in 1989, that if we did nothing to fight global warming, our planet would be uninhabitable in 10 years. Well the global average temperature is now 1 degree less than it was when he made that prediction. I have enjoyed most of Ted Danson's shows he has acted in, but I can't accept him as an environmental "expert." sorry Ted.
Well Today Is Friday And I Learn I Didn't Have To Rush To See The Mummy 3
Posted: Friday 8 August 2008 9:17
As the title implies the latest schedule at La Grande Movies shows that The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor with Brendan Fraser was renewed for another week.
But how was I to know? La Grande Movies doesn't tell you which movies will continue next week and which one doesn't. For that matter neither does their phone line which has a recorded schedule.
Oh well, I'm glad I got to see the movie, even if it was squeezed it at the last minute.
Played Hookie Again This Afternoon And Went To See The Mummy 3
Posted: Thursday 7 August 2008 18:16
I got a message this afternoon from an associate that I have been working with who said he was going to be away from the office for a couple of hours. So I quickly looked up the movie schedule for the Granada Theater here in La Grande and found that they had a matinee at 1:40. It was then 1:15 so I hot footed it down to the theater and saw The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor with Brendan Fraser.
Yes, it was pretty good. Different kind of mummy than the first two but still full of thrills and spectacular special effects. Well worth going to see on the big scree. The Granada Theater screens are not huge by most cineplex standards but compared to my TV it is big screen.
The main reason I made the effort to see The Mummy today was I don't know if it will still be playing next week or not. The web site for La Grande Movies only tells you which movie(s) are starting for the next week. They don't tell you which one(s) are ending. So rather than take the chance of it being The Mummy which gets removed from the schedule I decided to make the effort to see it today.

This Is Some Kind Of Crazy Summer And I Love It!
Posted: Tuesday 29 July 2008 20:11
I'm setting outside my RV at 8:00 PM in my easy chair and I had to get up and go put some sweat pants on. It is 70 degrees here! And I Love it.
This summer, so far, has been the most pleasant in memory. I just may add La Grande, Oregon to my list of regular places to spend the summer.
I'm listening to some episodes of the classic British radio comedy The Navy Lark. I got hooked on these shows when I last lived in Scotland from 89 to 91. The show stars Jon Pertwee, the third Dr. Who, as Chief Petty Officer Pertwee. There really good Shows.

Going Into Tourist Mode Today And Visiting Chief Joseph Days In Joseph, Oregon
Posted: Saturday 26 July 2008 9:51
Armed with my Konica Minolta 12X optical zoom camera and my CoolPix Pocket camera, my Pocket PC, Apple iPod, Digital Pocket Recorder, Australian bush hat, sunscreen, sunglasses and a thermos of coffee. I am heading up to Wallowa County to play tourist at the Chief Joseph Days celebration in Joseph, Oregon.
As you can see from the above, when I go into tourist mode I have all the trappings. I look a little like the Dark Knight, Batman, with a utility belt and all.
It has been more than 20 years since I last attended the Chief Joseph Days celebration in Joseph, Oregon and I am looking forward to seeing how much it has changed and or grown.
After I get back I will put in an after action visit report here and include a few pictures as well.
Even Though I Got Up Early, I Still Have Been A Busy Beaver
Posted: Wednesday 23 July 2008 13:39
Despite getting woke up very early this morning I have been busy at it. This is how I do it. If I am in the mood for working I go at it full tilt. And if I am not in the mood I am just as full tilt toward doing nothing.
Today I added a Google custom search feature to this web site and my business web site www.wwwhelper.com.
I never got around to adding a site search to this web site before so this is a big feature that will make navigating this web site much better.
On my business web site www.wwwhelper.com the Google custom search feature will be in addition to my internal site search system. Since the Google custom search feature will be using the Google index of the pages on the web site, the search results will be slightly different than my local site search program.
The only advantage to using my local site search program is that it will be up to the minute with the content on my business web site www.wwwhelper.com. While Google's may lag by several day's or even a few weeks, depending on how often they re-index the content of my web site. Of course this will be the problem on this web site because I don't have an internal search program (yet).
Hopefully, this new feature will increase the ability of visitors to find whatever information they are looking for.
It's Too Early! More About The Life Of An Internet Road HoBo With A Business
Posted: Wednesday 23 July 2008 7:07
Now, I'm not complaining, but I got a technical support email message and a phone call this morning at 5:00 AM. In over 12 years of an my online business this has happened to me only four maybe five times. All in all that is pretty good.
Even though I was awoken a couple of hours earlier than I usually get up and I didn't go to bed until after midnight last night I feel pretty good. I guess a lot goes to the fact that I was able to successfully help her.
She was one of my hosted web site clients and she had allowed her domain name to expire. I walked her through the process of renewing her domain name.
I guess part of the reason I feel so well this morning on less than my normal sleep is I am all hyped up in my business. I am in the middle of a couple of big and exciting projects.
All that said, I will bet that I will have me a siesta a little later this afternoon.
