After 3 weeks in Louisiana, I left this morning, heading North. I didn't want to have a long drive so I set my sights on Jackson, MS which is about 160 mile from Hammond.
I am staying about 10 miles North of Jackson in a small town named Canton. Boy is it green here! It was a very pleasant drive up I55. It is 4 lanes all the way and after leaving Louisiana the roads even got smooth.
One thing I noticed while I was in Louisiana is the roads are very bumpy. I am not a Civil Engineer so don't know the technical reason but for some reason most of the Highways there are very bumpy. Not ruts but some sort of seam every few feet causing the drive to have a constant thumping. Very annoying! It was like someone flipped a switch. Just as soon as I crossed into Mississippi the thumping stopped.
I arrived early this afternoon and after taking a short scouting mission around the area to see what sort of services there are I set back and relaxed while watching a couple of movies, the first was an Inspector Morse episode and the second was an episode of Foyles War. Two very good British mysteries.
Tomorow I have a lot of work to get done and hopefully later this week I will have some time to look a little more around the area. If anyone out there has any suggestions where I should look in and around Jackson, Mississippi please add a comment to this blog.
As soon as I can, I will add a posting that will serve as my Stay Report for Louisiana.
I am not sure how long I will stay here. Probably a week but maybe two. I will decide that later this week.
