The title of this posting may seem a little strange but it aptly describes what I have been doing for the last few weeks and will continue to do throughout this coming winter. Stay in one place.
As I have mentioned in previous posts in my schedule category I have decided to drop anchor in my current home port of Meridian, Idaho (a suburb of Boise) for the winter. Not because I have grown weary of traveling but because I have a granddaughter, named Ellery, who turns 3 this coming Christmas eve. She is starting to talk, well sort of, but I want to be near her while she continues to develop her personality and learn to communicate with others.
Plus Ellery is now old enough to visit with PaPa. Ray and Jennifer, Ellery's Mom and Dad, have already asked Grandpa to watch Ellery for a few hours and did we, at least I did, have a great time.
Tomorrow Jennifer has to attend a class for her work so Grandpa will be spending the whole day with Ellery. I am really excited about this and have already told the people at my favorite Coffee shop, Carolyn's Wild West Bakery and Espresso here in Meridian, that I will be bringing her along to meet everyone.
In the afternoon I am planning to take her to the Meridian Boonedocks Fun Center. It's one of those game centers that is designed for the very young. They also give you little tickets for how well you do on the games and before you leave you can cash them in for little prizes. Jennifer, Ray, myself and Ellery went there last year and she had a really great time. Now that she is a year older Ellery and PaPa will have a blast, that is if I can keep up with her.
Anyway, the purpose of this post was to tell you that I will be doing very little travel until the spring of 2008 and that there will only be occasional posts until then.
My plan is to do some posts on various topics, much like this one, but to also occasionally do a post to my classic destinations category. Since, over my life, I have visited or lived in 38 countries and visited nearly every state in the union (with the exception of New Hampshire and Vermont, which I will resolve in the near future). I will delve back in my memories and create a post to some place I thought was exciting.
One upcoming posting to my classic destination's category will be my trip from New London, Connecticut to Canada via Niagara Falls in Ontario through Manitoba, and Saskatchewan to the city of Moose Jaw where I then went south into the US and Missoula, Montana. Anyway standby for this post coming in the near future.
