Been here in Las Vegas, Nevada two weeks now. I am celebrating half way night tonight with a Prime Rib Dinner at Arizona Charlies. I suppose it is about time I updated the travel diary for what I have been doing since arriving in Las Vegas.
I didn't plan my arrival to be the Sunday when the clocks fall back and my move from the Mountain Time Zone to the Pacific Time Zone occurred all on the same day, but that is what happened. It has taken me a couple of weeks to get my sleep sorted out. I am now finally going to bed around a 11:00 PM and arising about 7:00 AM.
With one exception (mentioned below) the weather here in Las Vegas has been really great and is why I am a snow bird. For example, as I write this about 11:00 AM on Sunday, the temperature here is 70 degrees and the temperature back in Boise is 47 degrees. Now where would you rather be?
I have been on a really productive phase since my arrival, so I have taken advantage of this burst of energy to undertake a few programming projects for my main web site www.WWWHelper.com. The primary project is programming a blog program based on this one. Of course it will have more and different features built in more specific to a business web site.
I have also been working on my Content Management System (CMS). This latest feature will allow me to add alternate versions of all my web pages. Now you ask why would I want to do that. Well it's called A - B Split testing. Which means you monitor the different versions and see which ones attract more "actions" such as a purchase or whatever it is you are trying to get the site visitor to do. By tracking the number of completed actions on the different versions you can test for which page has the best ad copy.
Anyway, that is enough of the work talk. Mainly I brought that up to say I have been really busy working. I still haven't made it down to the strip yet. I had planned to go down there last Sunday but when I woke up it was raining, the only day it has rained since I arrived. So I am planning on trying to go down next Sunday.
This visit, unlike previous visits to Las Vegas, I have stayed pretty close to the RV Park. Arizona Charlies Casino is within a 2 minute walk and has a nice buffet and a couple of restaurants. So everything I need is right here. They also have plenty slot machines and gaming tables but I don't gamble. I have been here two weeks and have not dropped one quarter into a slot machine.
I got a call from my best friends Wally and Liz. They live in Phoenix and are the reason I spend most every winter there in Phoenix. I found out Wally and Liz are going to get married on the 28th here in Las Vegas. They will be staying at the Venetian Casino and we are going to have Thanksgiving dinner the day before the wedding. I missed Wally's wedding to Jeanie (she passed a couple of years ago) and he didn't want me to miss his wedding to Liz. This goes to timing, Wally and Liz have been planning to marry for awhile and I happened to be here in Las Vegas when it was good for them.
