Summary :     10 June 2004 I next went to Western Oregon
After leaving Norther California I arrived in Oregon Thursday 10 June 2004 and to my very sad disappointment my primary Internet Service with Versizon did not work there. I used my back up service which is with Sprint. However, that one is through my cell phone so I could not be on the Internet and speak to customers at the same time. That was a bit of a problem for me. So on Monday 14 June I moved north in search of a better Internet connection. Twa's a shame because I wanted to spend some more time in the area. There is the Shakespeare Festival in nearby Ashland, Oregon which I would have loved to seen a couple of the ole Bard's plays.

I called Verizon tech support about the Internet access problem and they told me that they use a roaming agreement for the Southern Oregon area and it only works for voice service and not digital services. So I am out of luck.

I will have to come back in this area again after the Internet service improves.

I then headed up toward Eugene, Oregon where Versizon Tech Support told me digital service should be available. What a pain!

For those of you who are travelers I am including the below wireless information for your travels.

I used Verizon Wireless for my Internet connection and virtually all of Southern, Oregon (south of Eugene) had little or no digital 1X service. I had better luck from Eugene north and even on the coast from Tilamook to Ashland. Service was pretty good in those areas.

I used Sprint for my Cell Phone (Voice Communications) I had a solid signal except when I went toward the coast where I lost service in most places. Same here. Service from Eugene north and even on the coast from Tilamook to Ashland was pretty good.
