Adventure Day :     320

Date Arrived:     12 August 2004

Date Departed:     17 Oct 2004

Hub Area:      Western, Washington

Actual Location:     City : Elma     State : Washington

Summary Title :     Western, Washington Area Visit

Summary :     12 August 2004 Arrived in Washington State Today

I was stationed at what was once called the Naval Submarine Base, Bangor, Washington. The times they are a changing. I believe they call it Naval Base Kitsap, Bangor now. I was very disapointed to say that virtually everything in Kitsap County had changed. However, I am pleased to say that the Sub Base itself had changed very little, at least in the non security areas. Having been retired 10 years I had no way of accessing the lower base which is behind a very serious security barrier.

Click on the below links for detailed information, including pictures of some of the places I visited in Western Washington.

13 August 2004 2004 Damage Control Olympics at the Bangor Submarine Base<

14 August 2004 2004 Bangor Fest or Boomer Fest at Bangor Submarine Base

14 August 2004 Submarine Deterant Park at Bangor Submarine Base

23 August 2004 2004 Olympics

25 August 2004 The Weather and My Weekend Plans

1 September 2004 10th Anniversary Since Retiring From the Navy

17 September 2004 Departed for Boise!

For those of you who are travelers I am including the below wireless information for your travels.

I used Verizon Wireless for my Internet connection and virtually all of Western Washington had fair digital 1X service.

I used Sprint for my Cell Phone (Voice Communications) I had pretty good service most of the areas I was in. Which includes both sides of the Hood Canal.

Ray Plumlee's Rating :      4 Stars out of 5.
