Category :      Restaurant / Fun Eatery

Location :      City : Chicago     State : Illinois

When :      Any Time

Reason to Visit :      Famously portrayed on "Saturday Night Live" by John Belushi, in the mid-70's (cheezeborger, no fries no chips), Billy Goat Tavern has long been a local legend since its original owner, William Sianis, was forbidden by the Chicago Cubs to bring his goat "Murphy" into Wrigley Field during a 1945 World Series game. Insulted, Sianis' curse that the Cubs would never again win a championship which has held true ever since. The Billy Goat, founded across from the old Chicago Stadium on Madison Street in 1934 was relocated to Michigan Avenue in 1964. The Billy Goat is known for its collection of newspapermen who wandered in after the dailies were done and now the walls are plastered with blown-up bylines and numerous articles.
