Reason to Visit : Opened on May 10, 1972, the San Diego Wild Animal Park is unique as zoo's go. It is a zoo where the animals roam in entire herds and flocks in a 2,100 acre preserve.
It is a zoo where the people are contained (caged if you will) and the animals run free in surroundings much like their native homelands. A quiet monorail, pathways and animal shows enable visitors to travel among the animals in their habitat and view many species of exotic plants.

Directions:
From the NORTH (southbound)on Interstate 5 (Orange County, Los Angeles), take the State Route 78 East exit at Oceanside, proceed east to Interstate 15 South, exit at Via Rancho Parkway and follow the signs to the Park. From Interstate 15 (Riverside), exit at Via Rancho Parkway and follow the signs east to the Park.
From the SOUTH (northbound) State Route 163 (downtown San Diego, Mission Valley) proceed to Interstate 15 to the Via Rancho Parkway exit. Go east and follow signs to the Park. From Interstate 5 or 805 (Mexico), proceed to the SR 163, then to Interstate 15 North, and then exit at Via Rancho Parkway. Follow signs east.
From the EAST (westbound): From Interstate 8 (Imperial County, Arizona) take the Interstate 15 North to the Via Rancho Parkway exit. Follow the signs east to the Park.

No. The Traveling Webmaster has not yet visited, San Diego Zoos Wild Animal Park during this current adventure, but once I do, I will be sure and tell you all about it. I will provide a rating and my recommendation whether you should schedule San Diego Zoos Wild Animal Park in your next vacation plan.
But I have been to San Diego Zoos Wild Animal Park before in 1981 or 1982.

While I was stationed aboard the USS MCkee AS-41 my family and I visited the San Diego Zoo's Wild Animal Park.
I thoroughly enjoyed that visit and look forward to my visit during this current adventure.
