Reason to Visit : On January 21,1972, Metropolis, Illinois was given authorization by National Periodical Publications(D.C. Comics) to become the adopted "Home of Superman". The same year the state of Illinois also recognized Metropolis as the "Home of Superman" by passing House resolution #572. Superman himself was designated a "distinguished Son of Metropolis", The only so-named city in the United States.
Metropolis is situated on Interstate 24 halfway between Nashville, Tennessee and St. Louis, Missouri, while Paducah, Kentucky is only 10 miles away.
Each year in June there is a festival with Carnival Rides, Superman Celebrity Guests, Street Vendors, Superman Games Music, Entertainment.

No. The Traveling Webmaster has not yet visited, Superman Festival during this current adventure, but once I do, I will be sure and tell you all about it. I will provide a rating and my recommendation whether you should schedule Superman Festival in your next vacation plan.
Traveling Webmasters Comments : Since I grew up watching Superman on TV and reading the DC comics I just have to visit during the festival.
Even today, as an OTR (Old Time Radio) enthusiast, I listen to the Superman radio program (circa 1938 to 1952) every day. Usually at night where I go to sleep listening to OTR shows. I have almost 10 years of the shows in MP3 format.
